What Is A Termite?

It is an insect, with six legs and a three-piece sectional body. They operate in a colony formation with different stages of the development of the insect doing different jobs.

· Worker Termite:

Nearly blind, these ants are usually the first termites seen, when breaking open a piece of wood that is being attacked by Termites. They can appear to look like white maggots with legs. These are the most numerous of the types of termites, this is the lifestage that feeds on the wood.

· Winged Termite:

This is the reproductive stage of the termite.

Social Structure of Termites

Termites are colony-structured insects. They have a differentiated caste system. All of the termites work towards the common good of the colony. They exhibit many co-operative behaviors. They build and repair the nest, tend the eggs and young stages of termite growth, they forage and feed as well as groom each other.
